If you haven’t gotten to know Street Level yet, this is your big chance! Our multimedia center at 1637 N Ashland Ave in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood is hosting an Open House on Saturday, February 3. Come check out the space’s new look; take a tour to learn about our audio & video production equipment; enjoy light refreshments; learn about Spring 2018 classes & clubs; chat with staff and young people who participate in Street Level programming; and try your hand at media activities! This is an opportunity to engage directly with the incredible work that Street Level does promoting self-expression, communication, and social change by providing Chicago youth with free digital media learning and art-making opportunities. All Urban Gateways/Street Level friends, supporters, Board members, partners, and artists are invited – as is anyone who is simply interested in learning more about us.
At Street Level you can make anything from a mixtape to a movie with instant access to high-end computers, studio equipment, and cameras. You can also sign up for free weekly classes and workshops with digital media artists James and Lisa as well as special guests, and then share your work online or even in our art gallery.
Street Level also has activities like video game tournaments, anime movie screenings, and clubs.
We’re looking for creative young people ages 13-24.
