Join Illinois Team for Arts Action Summit

The National Arts Action Summit is a multi-day event bringing together arts advocates from across the country.  Attendees will learn the latest research and legislative arts priorities from the experts in a full day training on March 4, 2019.  That evening, The Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts and Public Policy at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is sure to inspire and motivate advocates.   The following day, March 5, is Arts Advocacy Day when advocates take their passion, knowledge, and stories to Capitol Hill for meetings with their congressional leaders.  Arts Advocacy Day brings together a broad cross section of America's cultural and civic organizations, along with more than 700 grassroots advocates from across the country, to underscore the importance of developing strong public policies and appropriating increased public funding for the arts.

National Arts Advocacy Day is especially critical this year, as more than 70 new members of Congress begin their work on Capitol Hill. By presenting thoughtful, unified messages to our Senators, Representatives, and Congressional staff members, the Illinois team will ensure that our creative state is heard as Congress considers issues such as education, job creation, creativity, and innovation. We’ll need your help on the Illinois team!
